LOBOS TO FACE POWERFUL MEMORIAL IN AREA ROUND

The Langham Creek Lobos entered the 2011 Play-Offs sporting some powerful numbers compiled in their regular season. Just 5 points from the district leader in hitting (Cy Creek), the Lobos can stack up with anyone at the plate as they placed 7 hitters in the top 40. Junior, Hayden Jones, Junior, Brandon Montalvo, Senior, Cameron Elliott, & Senior, John Hoehner, all finished top 20 in overall batting; this including a 17 game schedule in a brutal district (17-5A) that is arguable one of the top five, 5A districts in the state of Texas. The quartet was responsible for nearly 100 RBI in 2011 for the Lobos.
The Lobos possess speed and agility on the bases finishing the season leading all of 17-5A in stolen bases and placing four in the top 10. As a team, the Lobos pilfered an incredible 88 bases where more than 50% scored. The combination of high avg. hitting, & speed on the bases allowed Langham Creek to score a league leading 223 runs in 28 games; an average of nearly 8 runs per game.
But where the Lobos sport the most powerful numbers is their pitching. A league leading overall team ERA of 2.23 is just the beginning. Junior, Brandon Montalvo (RHP-6-0), Junior, Hayden Jones (LHP-7-0), & Senior, Logan Onda (RHP-5-2), all rank in the top 10 in overall individual pitching for the Lobos.  The trio combined for a 18-2 record with 177 strikeouts in 148.2 innings pitched in 2011. In District 17-5A individual pitching Hayden Jones, and Brandon Montalvo finished 1 & 2 respectively in 17-5A with Logan Onda finishing 7th.
Throw the numbers around any way you wish, the bottom line for the Lobos’ baseball; these guys know how to pitch. All three possess the ability to spot multiple pitches for strikes and face their opponents with a high level of confidence and a bulldog approach to the task at hand.
That task this weekend is to take on the incredibly powerful Spring Branch Memorial Mustangs. A team averaging nearly 10 runs a game and possesses the second best power numbers in all of H5AB.
