Anuery Rodriguez stepped up for the home team today but quickly learned the disappointment his team mates on the Astros Pitching Staff have endured all season. Rodriguez’s brilliant 5 innings of work included just 1 hit surrendered to the Reds, that was a triple by Chris Valaika. Rodriguez walked 1 and struck out 3 in his 5 innings of work.
Lopez 1IP, Abad0.2, Melancon 0.1IP, & Fulchino 1IP held down the fort and a 2-0 lead and then Astros fans were tortured again, as they’ve been so many times before when Brandon Lyon was inserted into the 9th inning. Lyon walked Drew Stubbs on four pitches, then a wild pitch to Heisey advanced Stubbs to second. Heisey then singled to right advancing Stubs to third with no out. Votto immediately singles to RF scoring Stubbs, Phillips singles to RF to score Heisley and Lyon logs the blown save without retiring a sinlge batter. Then Lyon completed the opening up of the can of suck we are all so accustomed to here in Astroland. Former H5AB Great, Jay Bruce steps up for the Reds and promptly doubles to RF scoring Votto to win the game.
