EASTER LAUNCHES BRAZOSWOOD TO STATE FINAL

As State Semi-Final games go, they don’t get any better. Friday’s contest featuring Klein vs Brazoswood; lived up to the H5AB.com billing “Clash Of Titans” as the Buccaneers of Brazoswood move on to play for their 3rd State Championship in school history.

As the Klein Bearkats piled up 10 hits on Brazoswood starter Brandon Bergen, the Buccaneer’s defense was up for the task and Bobby William’s bunch did what they’ve done all post season; win. Was it a typical Brandon Bergen performance? “He didn’t have is best stuff out there but he was about 90% but his 90% is pretty good” Said Williams of his lefty Ace. “He only throws about 85 or 86 but he has 4 pitches he can throw for strikes; he’s one of the best pitchers in the state”.

You could safely say that that Klein Starter Evan Rutter was winning the duel on the mound for the first 5+ innings and then something amazing happened. It’s been happening to the Bucs the entire post season. Someone stepped up and assumed hero status for today; and that hero for today, Will Easter.

In the bottom of the sixth Dalton Perry reached on an error, Pyeatt followed that up with a hit. Bergen then struck out, and Renner flied to center field bringing Will Easter to the plate with 2-outs. An epic at-bat would ensue as Easter would run the count full fouling of good pitch after good pitch and on that 3-2 count would drive a Rutter fastball out of left field giving his Buccaneers a 4-3 lead. “Our Coaches always tell us to put the ball in play and good things can happen. That’s all I was trying to do, put the ball in Play” Easter said of his 6th inning at-bat. “Every day someone is stepping up and I thought, why not me today”? And step up he did. Bergen would go on to shut down the Bearkats in the top of the 7th and Brazoswood will now play Saturday @ Noon.
